The Earth Please Foundation provides counseling services to individuals and families through the Alternatives Family Counseling Center in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.  The Alternatives office pictured above is located across from the Henry County Courthouse in Mount Pleasant at 104 East Clay Street.
Emergency Response:  The reader who has come to this site with a situation requiring immediate counseling assistance should call 911, or go immediately to their local hospital Emergency Room. In the case of Mount Pleasant residents Emergency Response is the Henry County Health Center at

The Clinical Director of the Alternatives program is Nancy B. Porter, LISW, licensed by the Iowa Department of Health as a Clinical Social Worker, with a broad range of training covering children, family and adult experience. Her undergraduate major was in Adult Aging Studies from the University of Iowa, and her graduate degree from the University of Iowa School of Social Work.

Nancy’s husband, William H. Porter, Ph.D., is a psychologist, licensed by the Iowa Department of Health as a Clinical Psychologist and a Health Provider.  He also holds a Master Educator License from the Department of Education as a School Psychologist.  Dr. Porter’s graduate degree is from the University of Southern California, and with a Post Doctoral Internship at the Max Planck Institute for Psychiatry in Munich, Germany.

Alternatives Family Counseling
The Alternatives Counseling program does accept most insurances and Medicaid, but is not certified for Medicare at this time.  Medicaid payment rates are used as the basis of need for those individuals who do not have other insurance coverage.

Application Forms:  Should you be searching for counseling services, or have currently decided to initiate counseling services with Dr. Porter, a complete set of application forms are available at www.  These forms are to be filled out and returned prior to your first counseling appointment; either by:

Dr. Porter does have a Letter of Agreement on file with several school districts in South East Iowa.  If you have considered that your child might receive counseling services during the school day, you may want to fill out an appropriate school application as well.
